Building In Public

Greetings and Happy New Year.

I treated myself to a much needed break from publishing over the Christmas period. I was enjoying the output rate, but the process of writing an article every week in addition to the new newsletter I started last month has been tough to manage, as I mentioned in my 3 month review.

That being said, I can’t stop and won’t stop. I have notice a very (very) slow growth on this page, and I am hoping that the law of compounding will kick in any time now.

One of the only things I did over the break was a yearly review of 2020. I used elements from several different reviews shared by my favourite writers and creators to create a personalized template that worked for me. If you want my template, reach out. Part of the yearly review was setting objectives and values for 2021 — one section of the review I am hoping to embody this year is choosing 5 key values to focus on. The values I chose for 2021 are:

1. Faith.

2. Integrity.

3. Balance.

4. Selflessness.

5. Vision.

In 2021, I plan build upon the progress I made in 2020, which was weirdly my most productive year of all time. I have grown a real appreciation for the the value of time, both my own and that of others, as well as the potential of building in public. There is no need to wait until you become an ‘expert’ in any given field before you can start sharing your work. People like to see the growth process and how your style and ideas develop over time. The sooner you start sharing your work, the better.

So, the blog will go on, the newsletter will go on, and the show will go on. There are many other ideas and desires I hope to explore this year, and there’s no better time than now.
